TMC installation? Posted by papilio. I just purchased 4 TMC drivers but am unable to locate pinouts or installation instructions in SpreadCycle mode on my Anycubic printer. My board has no jumpers so I expect I'll need to do something like the old TMC "remove 3 pins if required and jumper these two pins" but will need to know exactly which. You can either do it manually like here or use this handy boardkeep in mind you still need a serial to USB converter for both options.

Quite some time has passed since this post and things have sorted themselves happy to say, though I was never able to apply these drivers via more conventional manners as you clearly understand. I'd been having frustrations in getting the TMC sticks to run without missing steps even with active cooling, and had read someplace that the drivers might be a better choice.

But eventually just by playing long enough with values and parameters of the printer and drivers I lucked out and hit on what appears to be a workable configuration -- haven't had missed steps now in a good long while and the absolute silence of the steppers even in spreadCycle mode is remarkable! I'll be installing the Duet Ethernet on the new machine which I'm building, so I'll be able to take advantage of the TMC features of its drivers such as you describe.
At first, reading your reply I jumped to the conclusion that a solution as you describe was rather over my head as the field of knowledge involved is not a strength of mine. But after checking out your links it does look doable for me, and will certainly be a good chance to expand my understanding. Even though employing the drivers is no longer as important as it had been, no reason not to do what I can to improve even my little Anycubic workhorse.

For me there are 3 more important issues to consider. All TMC's I have used currently ver 1. This is not mentioned and 2. Running this rig without a fan would be inviting trouble. Let's leave it at that. The TMC will benefit in operation from as much cooling as possible. I also have put the original heatsink as well on the chip side but have not tried this in the A20M. You can remove the jumpers 3 off. When i move y it works correctly.
Also my 3dtouch is already on. Can you help me? Is this perhaps a Problem of the new tmcs?
Post Reply.Trinamic stepper drivers allow you to have better control of your stepper motors and achieve extremely quiet motion. You can influence how the driver manages motor current as well as the manner of current delivery. The drivers can act as endstops allowing you to simplify wiring. The TMC stepper drivers require an external library that allows Marlin to communicate with each driver. Because the TMC drivers require a way for communication and configuring the drivers outside of standalone mode they also require additional setup.
The serial port on master is selected in your pins file.
Alternatively you can use the slower software serial by not selecting any of the hardware serial ports. Typically one port per one driver is needed. Note: The receive RX pins are limited to only interrupt capable pins. Transmit TX pins do not have the same limitation. This means that the drivers should work for moving the axis but you will not be able to configure them nor take advantage of the additional features of the drivers.
